Last weekend I had a short trip to Jakarta to meet a client and visit family and the girlfriend. My flight back to Bali was the first flight on Monday 6:35am, it’s an overkill to spend just a few hours in a hotel and I don’t want to wake up that early to beat the traffic to the airport.
So I decided I’d spend the night at the airport.
The place is Terminal 3, the new building in Soekarno Hatta. Now kids, there are several things you need to know when you’re planning to spend the night at this particular terminal:
- BRING CASH. It’s the first one of the utmost importance. Don’t rely too much on cards.
- It’s going to be boring, so charge all your gadgets to the max before you go.
- You’re not going to sleep at all even if you want to, trust me. You won’t feel safe closing your eyes in public place like that.
- Everything closes at 1am except for Circle K, it’s open 24 hours.
- Check in gate opens at 4am sharp, not that it’s a big deal anyway.
- You’re not allowed to sleep inside the musholla, apparently you can’t crash in God’s house. Or apartment.. or hut. Anyway..
I had a cup of Mochabella earlier that night so I was hyper all night and I watched, like, 3 episodes of Animaniacs and kept moving to keep myself warm. It was a pretty awesome experience, I met new friends (they’re travelers) and learned a lot from them.
There’s much more to tell on the second part of this story, but now I gotta get some real sleep. Good night :)
